Foreign Cinema Wedding in San Francisco

Singing, dancing and laughter that could be heard all the way down the hall of the 25th floor at the W Hotel in San Francisco greeted me as I arrived at Ellen’s Bridal Suite. I barely set my camera bag down before being welcomed with hugs and warm smiles – the synergy and love in the room was electric. It was easy to see that this was the wedding of a very special couple. Ellen was calm and relaxed, chatting, joking and sipping champagne as she got ready – she even promised to walk down the aisle in her sunglasses.  I told her that if she did, i’d photograph the reception in my boxer shorts. Alas…

Later in the morning a limo picked up the bridal party and drove them across town to  Temple Emanu-El in the Presidio. Dedicated in 1926, the magnificent building at Lake Street and Arguello Boulevard is a spectacular house of worship located in one of San Francisco’s oldest and most iconic neighborhoods. Ellen and Gadi shared a first-look in the courtyard of this historical temple and tears welled in everyone’s eyes as Gadi became overwhelmed when he saw his beautiful bride for the first time. It was an unforgettable moment. Shortly afterwards, family and friends gathered around Ellen and Gadi for the signing of the Ketubah, which was laser cut specially for the wedding. Ellen and Gadi were joined together beneath a handmade Huppah – not a dry eye was left in Temple Emanu-El as they made their promise to each other.

During the reception at the Foreign Cinema in the Mission District, guests enjoyed an array of local dishes from one of San Francisco’s finest restaurants whilst 1940’s black and white love stories played on a projector above.  Swoon. Talk about romance and ambiance!!!  Couples and families enjoyed special moments together throughout the evening as everyone celebrated with the bride and groom. Ellen and Gadi’s Hava Nagila dance was the most energtic i’ve have ever seen!!! It was great watching their reactions through my camera during the dance – just look at the joy on their faces!

Congratulations you two – I can’t wait to see whats next for you!
