Southern tradition abounds at this beautiful lakeside wedding celebration at a private family lake house. Set against a serene spring backdrop, this lake wedding was the perfect blend of timeless Southern elegance, heartfelt details, and meaningful family traditions.
From the moment guests arrived, every detail felt intentional—layered with classic Southern charm and styled to perfection by master wedding designer and planner Brenda Hodges of A Curated Story, who ensured not a single element was overlooked.
Emily and Wes exchanged vows on a beautiful spring afternoon at the family’s lake house, and were blessed with perfect weather—an answered prayer for a day so deeply anticipated. Even the long-standing tradition of burying a bottle of bourbon seemed to work its magic, as the celebration unfolded exactly as they had dreamed.
The reception design was a true celebration of Southern wedding style. Bridesmaids wore soft floral print dresses paired beautifully with solid hues, while groomsmen embraced classic Southern sophistication in blue suits. Every visual detail felt intentional, elevated, and cohesive.
Guests were welcomed to impeccably styled reception tables featuring a mix of blue and white chinoiserie-inspired china, vintage depression glass, alternating white linens, and traditional blue floral patterned tablecloths. The result was a layered, collected look that felt both refined and deeply nostalgic.
Each place setting included a thoughtful Southern touch—Tupelo Honey presented in mason jars as a heartfelt thank-you gift to guests. It was a small detail that perfectly captured the warmth and hospitality of this lake house wedding celebration.
One of the sweetest parts of this wedding was the presence of family and children woven into the day. Flower girls wore delicate flower crowns, while ring bearers looked timeless in seersucker suits—a perfect nod to classic Southern wedding attire. (Because honestly, kids at weddings always bring the best kind of joy.)
Guests enjoyed a custom bar experience featuring signature cocktails, including the bride’s favorite grapefruit gin & tonic, along with ice-cold beer, sparkling wine, and still water served from a rustic chilled trough—offering something for everyone at this relaxed yet elevated lakeside gathering.
The celebration concluded with a stunning ombre wedding cake inspired by the colors of the lake itself. Displayed on a vintage pedestal, it was served on the bride’s mother’s cherished blue-and-white Blue Willow china—bringing the entire design story full circle with a meaningful family heirloom.
From the thoughtful details to the emotional family moments, Emily and Wes’s lake house wedding was the perfect reflection of tradition, love, and intentional design. Every element worked together to create a celebration that felt personal, timeless, and deeply rooted in Southern hospitality.
